The LGBTQIA Human Rights Act of 2016, (commonly known as the LGBT Rights Act or more recently as the LGBTQ+ Civil Rights Act) is a Chawosaurian civil rights law that solidifies and consolidates civil rights protections to the already-protected LGBTQ+ community in the Empire of Chawosauria.

The LGBT Rights Act was easily enacted by the 23rd Chawopolis Palace in response to the Orlando shootings on June 12, 2016, as well as the U.S. Republican Party's worsened rhetoric against, and state legislative attacks on the LGBT Americans during the aftermath of the U.S. Supreme Court's June 26, 2015 decision in Obergefell v. Hodges to legalize same-sex marriage federally in the states. Passed with a 97% approval vote in a referendum and signed into law by Supreme Leader Abooksigun Eluwilussit in June 2016. Became law on January 1, 2017. Even if it is repealed, its repeal would not bring any effect for LGBT Chawosaurians due to the permanently irrepealable Major Amendment I of the Imperial Constitution of the Empire of Chawosauria, which protects sexual orientation and gender identity from discrimination.

Background

As LGBT Rights in Chawosauria increased so greatly in Chawosauria in beginning 2016, Degotoga K. Atagulkalu introduced the LGBTQIA Human Rights Act, but would not be effective completely until January 20, 2020. The reason it anyway passed was that of the Orlando Attacks in Florida, it was passed out of sympathy and empathy from Chawosaurians for the people who lost their lives in Orlando. On June 1, 2016, when the law was first proposed, any Chawosaurians felt LGBT Chawosaurians already rights and was no need to pass it, but the Orlando attacks have made Chawosaurians demand this law to pass due to sympathy and empathy for the victims of the attack. The approval rating of this law as of March 2018, it has a 95% approval to a 3% disapproval. One of Chawosauria's most popular laws ever passed.
